Accident and Incident Policy

At PuliKidz, we prioritize the safety of children, staff, and visitors, striving to minimize the risk of accidents or incidents in our environment.

We conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement measures to reduce the likelihood of harm. Despite our efforts, some accidents or incidents may still occur due to the nature of our activities.

Child/Adult Injury

In the event of an injury or accident, first aid will be provided as necessary. Depending on the severity, we will contact parents and, if needed, emergency services.

A thorough evaluation of the incident will be conducted to determine its cause, allowing us to implement preventive measures for the future.

In cases of serious injuries or incidents, we will notify social services and the Health and Safety Executive to facilitate a comprehensive investigation.

Emergency Procedures

Our primary concern during an emergency is the safety of all children and staff. If you are involved in an incident, please follow the procedures outlined below.

Incident Near the Club Location

  1. Conduct a headcount and register of all children and staff.
  2. A designated staff member must call 999 to alert the police, explaining the situation and providing the number of individuals present.
  3. If school staff or caretakers are on site, collaborate to secure the premises, prioritizing the safety of the children in your care.
  4. In uncertain situations, remain in place and await police assistance.
  5. Inform parents/carers of the situation and provide updates.
  6. Advise parents not to come to the club unless instructed by staff, following guidance from emergency services.
  7. Ensure children are shielded from distressing information or images, providing constant reassurance.

Incident Within the Club’s Region

  1. Ensure all children are accounted for and secure within the indoor facilities of the club.
  2. Staff members should contact parents/carers to reassure them and provide information about picking up their children.
  3. Recognize that parents/carers may work in the affected area and may have difficulty arriving promptly.
  4. At least two staff members must remain with the children.
  5. Provide ongoing updates to parents as possible.

Intruder On-Site

  1. Call the police immediately at 999, providing your location and the number of children and staff present.
  2. Initiate a lockdown procedure, gathering all children and staff in a safe area, locking or barricading doors if feasible.
  3. Conduct a register and headcount of all individuals present.
  4. Comfort and reassure the children.
  5. In case of uncertainty, remain in place and wait for the police to arrive and manage the situation.

Procedure for Parents

The safety and care of your child are our highest priorities. In the event of an incident, PuliKidz will comply fully with emergency service instructions while providing reassurance to the children in our care. Please refrain from coming to the setting unless directed to collect your child, as this may increase risk for both you and your child. We will keep you informed of any actions taken as soon as it is safe to do so.

If you are involved in an incident, we will continue to care for your child until you are able to return or an authorized person from your pickup list can collect them. We will strive to maintain communication via phone or email, so please ensure your contact information is always up to date.
